Sinbosen Cables & Customisation: A System-Wide Connection from the Amp Rack to the Last Metre
In a sound reinforcement system, cables are often the last thing to be considered, yet they are frequently the first point of failure. No matter how powerful your amplifiers are or how high-quality your loudspeaker drivers may be, the wrong cable gauge, incompatible connectors, or routing signal cables alongside power lines will inevitably lead to problems—manifesting as audible noise, overheating, or even damaged loudspeaker drivers. Sinbosen treats cabling as a standalone product line rather than merely an accessory to loudspeakers and amplifiers. From the amplifier outputs to individual array enclosures, and from stage interface boxes to the mixing console, all cabling can be custom-configured to match the specific lengths and connector standards required for your project.
一、Six Cable Families, One Integrated System
Based on signal type, Sinbosen's cable solutions cover six directions. Since each category is designed for specific voltage, current, and bandwidth requirements, mixing them up is a primary cause of on-site malfunctions.
| Family | Typical connectors | Key specs | Typical application |
| Speaker power | NL4 / NL8 / CA-COM / EP5 / NLT4 / NLT8 | 2 mm² or 4.0 mm², 2/4/8-core | Amp rack to line array, subwoofers, stage monitors |
Audio signal | XLR M/F, multicore circular (VFS / VMS) | 12-ch / 16-ch high-shielding multicore | Stage boxes, microphone and return runs |
Lighting & industrial power | Harting heavy-duty, HB01 consolidation, Schuko | Multiple 220 V circuits bundled | Dimmer racks, fixture power, break-out boxes |
Network & digital audio | CAT6A etherCON | 10 Gbps class, metal locking shell | Dante / AVB, switch to DSP amplifier |
Video | HDMI 4K AOC active optical, 12G-SDI coax | Lossless 4K over 30 m | Stage LED screens, broadcast video |
Other power / data | Specified per project | Built to requirement | Control, data and special interfaces |
二、 Speaker Cable: The Artery of the System
Speaker cable is the heaviest part of the range. Two rules govern it: cross-section decides how far you can run, and the connector decides whether it plugs in at all.
Three Cable Forms, Each With a Job
| Form | Role | Common specs | Why it's split this way |
| Main cable | Long-distance run, amp rack to loudspeakers | 2/4/8-core, 20–25 m and up | Longest distance, highest demands on gauge and shielding |
| Jumper / link cable | Between array cabinets, inside racks | 2/4/8-core, 70 cm / 5 m | Short-run specific — no surplus cable on the grid |
| Breakout splitter | Splits a multicore into discrete channels | NL4 to 2×NL2, NL8 to 2×NL4, CA-COM to 4×NL2, etc. | Fewer cables on deck, far lower chance of a mis-patch |
The value of a breakout is that it turns one multicore run into several discrete channels, each tail clearly numbered — which sharply reduces the odds of landing a channel on the wrong cabinet.
Breakout splitter: one multicore trunk fanned out into discrete channels, each tail CH-numbered to prevent mis-patching
2.5 or 4.0: Choosing Your Cross-Section
This is the most consistently underestimated decision in speaker cable specification. The difference between the two is not marginal — it is whether the run holds its damping factor over distance.
| Cross-section | Best for | Why | |||
| 2.5 mm² (approx. 14 AWG) | Stage monitors, fill speakers, short runs | Light and flexible — fast to position on a tight changeover | |||
| 4.0 mm² (approx. 11–12 AWG) | Subwoofers, main looms for large line arrays | Low voltage drop under high current, preserving amplifier damping factor so the low end stays controlled |
Mapped to real applications: main array looms use 8-core 4.0 mm² on CA-COM or NL8; subwoofers use 2- or 4-core 4.0 mm²; stage monitors are fine on 2- or 4-core 2.5 mm²; and inter-cabinet jumpers use 4-core 4.0 mm² to keep signal consistent from box to box. The cable below is a typical inter-cabinet jumper: 4-core 4.0 mm², 70 cm, NL4FX both ends.
Jumper / link cable: 4-core 4.0 mm², 70 cm, NL4FX both ends — for short inter-cabinet links inside an array
Connector Families: Know Which System You're On
There is no globally standardized pinout for power/speaker cable connectors. While connectors such as the NL8, CA-COM8, and various multi-pin heavy-duty circular connectors may look similar, they are not interchangeable and belong to different proprietary systems. For instance, the Neutrik ecosystem utilizes the NL4/NL8 series; large-scale systems (such as the KA-1 or KA-2) often employ 8-pin CA-COM connectors; and the EP5 is a 5-pin metal connector. Before making a purchase, it is essential to verify the specific connector system used by your amplifiers and loudspeakers—relying solely on the pin count is highly likely to lead to errors.
Sinbosen's own loudspeakers illustrate how specific this gets: KA208, KA-3 and XT-15 use 4-pin NL4; KA-1 and KA-2 use 8-pin CA-COM; KA15, KA18, KA21, KA28, SA28 and the CIVA series use 2-pin NL4; the DB series (VT, YT, QT, MT, BT) uses 2- or 4-pin NL4 / EP5; GTS, KTS and STL-SUB use 4-pin NLT4; and V4887, V4888, V4889 use 8-pin NL8. A single system can therefore carry several connector types at once — which is precisely why cables need specifying cabinet by cabinet.
三、 Audio Signal Cable: Stage Boxes and Multicore Snakes
Signal cable carries millivolt-level audio and is far more vulnerable to interference than anything else on stage. Sinbosen's stage box solution builds the multicore trunk and the breakout tails as one complete chain rather than piecing it together on site.
| Model | Spec | Application | |||
| 12CH 1.5M-12FXLR-VFS | 12-channel, 1.5 m, 12× XLR female + VFS multicore end | Collecting 12 channels of microphone, DI and other sources into the stage box | |||
| 12CH 1.5M-12FXLR-VMS | 12-channel, 1.5 m, VMS male multicore end | Plug into a patch panel or stage box fitted with a female multicore socket | |||
| 12CH 1.5M-12MXLR-VFS | 12-channel, 1.5 m, 12× XLR male | Standard short run from stage box to console channel inputs or rack analogue inputs | |||
16CH 1.5M-12MXLR+4FXLR-VFS | 16-channel composite (12 in + 4 return) | One cable carrying both the outgoing channels and the returns — ideal for systems with monitor sends
16CH 15M VFS-VMS | 16-channel, 15 m trunk extension, multicore both ends | Long-distance trunk section between stage box and console / rack |
The 16-channel composite snake is worth a closer look. Twelve XLR male connectors feed the console inputs, carrying microphone and line signals; four XLR female connectors take the console or processor outputs and send returns back down the same multicore to the stage end. Male for inputs, female for outputs follows standard signal-flow convention, and it lets a single cable handle both directions of the run.
四、 Custom Process: Four Parameters Define a Cable
Sinbosen builds cable to four variables. Confirm these four and the specification follows.
| Parameter | Options | ||
| Cable type | Main cable / Jumper (link) cable / Breakout splitter | ||
| Cross-section | 2 mm² / 4.0 mm² | ||
| Connector & core count | NL2 / NL4 / NL8 / CA-COM / EP5 / NLT4 / NLT8 / CA-COM extension; 2-core / 4-core / 8-core | ||
Length | Fully custom: short 0.5–2 m, medium 5–15 m, long 20–50 m and up
Lead Time
Type | Lead time | Notes | ||||||
Standard cable | 3–5 days | Regular specifications, shipped from existing models and standard lengths
Custom cable | 10–20 days | Built to your specified length, cross-section, connector and core count
五、Transport & Storage: Custom Flight Cases
Custom cable sets ship in dedicated flight cases. Internal dividers are shock-absorbing and compartmented, keeping heavy-gauge power cable and fibre in separate bays to prevent tangling and conductor breakage. The shells use flame-retardant board, heavy-duty impact-resistant ball corners and quiet braked casters — built to survive repeated load-ins and fast turnarounds.
